i was reading some different threads and i have a few questions. i just finished my first season as a goalie and i want to stick with it. whats the difference between open and closed sidewalls?

From what i know, you generally use oped sidewalls on small diamond mesh such as 17 or 20 to give you more of a pocket. It is not used on larger diamond sticks such as 12 and 10 because it will bag out meaning it will get to deep and you will have a difficult time throwing. But thats just the bare minimum. hope it helps.

normally 17d and 14d can be open or closed, but you get a bigger pocket with open and a little less rebounds. 10d , 12d, and 20d are normally closed sidewalls, and they all have different qualities. stickies are helpful: http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=147120

also if have a open like a nemi and use 20d then its holds the rebond and most open heads controll rebounds
