I wanted to start new thread about GA lacrosse, as I am getting fatal memory error messages on the "part deaux" thread, on two computers. Maybe it's just me, but if others are at issue, use the old one for reference.
Here it goes, predicting 2010 playoff favorites (area champ contenders in Bold and ?= doesn't matter):
A-AAAA>
Area 1) Lovett, McIntosh, ?, ?
Area 2) Westminster, HIES, Sprayberry, ?
Area 3) Wesleyan, Lambert, BT, ?
Area 4) SPX, Decatur, ?, ?
AAAAA>
Area 1) Harrison, ?, ?, ?
Area 2) Lassiter, Walton, Pope, Etowah
Area 3) Milton, Roswell, Alpharetta, South Forsyth
Area 4) Northview, ?, ?, ?
Moderator, If there is a technical solution to memory issues, advise and put this entry under old GA thread.

A-AAAA
Area 3
1)Wesleyan
2)BT
3)Lambert
I would put GAC in the last spot followed by
Johns Creek
North Springs
West Forsyth
Gainsville
Riverside Military
The middle programs have the ability to move up in those brackets, they are making significant strides in boosting their programs. The bottom programs i do not know much about, other than their historical records, etc..

Perennial lurker, first time poster...
Responding to the question posed in the Part 2 forum concerning posted schedules for 2010 -- Pope has theirs up:
http://www.popelacrosse.com/schedule...sity&titleid=V
Schedule looks very tough for a talented but young and mostly inexperienced team. They also fired their well-respected community coach after last season. It will be a stretch for them to make the playoffs this year even with the expanded format.
BTW, saw many of the Lambert kids play over this past summer and there are some serious players on this team. True, there are no seniors on this year's team but they have all been coached for many years by the best community coach in the Atlanta area. This team is going to surprise a lot of folks!

You can fix the error problem, just look at a small thread and then change it to linear again. it should fix the problem

B/c this is an interwebz message board and people don't know what they're talking about...unless they're one of these freshman...and are tooting their own horn.

well EC thunder, if they came from the East Cobb league then they must ball hard.
I represent them myself, and the East Cobb Orange Juice. Way better than any Parker Frost's East Cobb Rhinos.

Pope is starting a few freshmen on their Double Stixx team and overall their team is in last place. I've watched a few DStixx games over the past few weeks and Pope does have some talent but they don't play well together yet. They're also missing two senior d-poles as well as Frost.
Two of the freshmen are ex-roosters -- Powers and Wadella. I can't see Pope starting freshman in the Spring. Very few ninth graders are ready for the speed and player size of varsity play. JV does serve a useful purpose, IMHO.
I've seen both Milton teams play (A & B varsity) and they've both been very impressive. Some very good faceoff and middie play. Looks like they're getting some good fall coaching that will undoubtedly help when the games actually count.

Forgot to mention, here's the link for the Double Stixx Fall league standings:

It's a week or so behind since there's been some rain outs and re-schedules.

Just an FYI - Georgia Select will have a team again this summer. More details to follow as to selection process and proposed schedule for summer of 2010. Crazy to think about summer plans before the season even starts but teams are filling summer rosters sooner and sooner so we are forced to do the same. Look for info here and also from your coaches in the next couple of weeks.

I have heard this as well. No confirmation on it though. Last year's head coach seems to have moved to the middle school level?
If it is true that Corsetti is coaching Riverwood, I give it a year until the school coach screws that up.
Definite improvement for Riverwood, how is their team looking this year now that it is Bogerless.

Seriously, brosef. Looking at Pope's schedule, these three freshman are in for quite a shock. They'll be play real Varsity level ball. I don't expect them to fare very well. I suggest you hit the wall instead of hyping yourself. The only freshman that I have ever seen make an impact was AJ Canara during his freshman year (2008). Let me know if I've missed any.

Curious as to what you forum folks think of the three new lacrosse programs in our area. Personally, I just don't see much interest.
Here's the links and a few of my thoughts:
Reinhardt / NAIA / Spring 2010
http://www.reinhardteagles.com/sport/7/19.php
Looks like they're signing up some local players from McEachern, Lassiter and South Forsyth -- but who are they going to play? Being in the NAIA offers them no other schools anywhere close by to play. Are they really just a "club team"?
Oglethorpe / D-III / Spring 2010
http://www.oglethorpecamps.com/view/40
Here's a new D-III program starting up for this coming season and I see nothing on their website about the team. Are they recruiting players yet?
Mercer (Macon Campus) / D-I / Spring 2011
http://www.mercerbears.com/news/2009....aspx?path=gen
You would think that our first Georgia D-I program would be generating some press -- I just don't see it. Is anyone looking into this program? Sure looks like a great opportunity....

Very well put the only other freshmen to had that actually started on a good team and had an impact that i can think of would be holland frost from pope last year and then tyler and jordan cunningham started on lovett last year also as freshmen

Reinhardt is indeed NAIA. So basically you can get scholarships, full time coaches, facilities, etc etc (varsity perks)...but you play in the MCLA. SCAD, Lindenwood, etc are examples of this.
I'm willing to bet that Oglethorpe doesn't follow through with it. At least that's going by what the Oglethorpe AD told me, in person.
Mercer...HA!

Hello this is Jason Childs and I am the head lacrosse coach at Mercer University. I just wanted to introduce myself. I will be trying to follow this forum as much as possible. I know to be successful I will need to stay in touch with Georgia Lacrosse.
I also wanted to apologize for the webpage, though some of you think it may be a joke, I have been very busy with recruiting. I have talked with the SID office and they are revamping the webpage. There will also be an ad in InsideLacrosse Magazine soon, as well as a blog I am starting. It has taken some time to get off the ground with this. Most of that is due to my time constraints with my family. I have been commuting back and forth to Rome, Ga (my wife's family is from there) and when I am with my kids and wife, it is Family time. The time I have spent in my office and on the road has been devoted to recruiting completely.
I also wanted to apologize for not attending the Southern Combat. Contrary to what some of you may have heard or been told, I was never invited to attend the event. I did not know about the event until about three weeks ago, and I still have not received a phone call to attend the tournament. I know some things were going around about me not being interested or wanting to be there. I simply was not aware of the tournament and now have made plans I cannot break.
I am very interested in Georgia High School/Club Lacrosse. I coached in GA several years after I graduated from college. I am also hosting a tournament the weekend of Nov 21 and 22 in Atlanta, and would welcome any teams that want to be a part of it to join. Just contact me via my office. My contact information is up on the webpage.
Again I just wanted to introduce myself and give you a heads up on what you will start to see on the web and in the media outlets about Mercer Lacrosse. Again my apologies if you were told something different from the truth of the matter about Southern Combat.
All my best.

Nice to hear from you, Coach Childs. I know that I'm extremely happy to finally have a D-I school here in Georgia. Here's hoping you can direct some positive focus on the kids who continue to play some great youth and high school lacrosse here in the metro area and around the state.
In a few years, I hope we see your program growing with a distinct, home grown core of GA players.
The best of luck to you and the Bears!

Coach, great to hear from you on the message boards. I, along with everyone else, are very excited to have your program here in the state. I am not sure if you have an answer for the following questions or want to disclose, but;
Where are you focusing most of your recruiting, are you going for a purely homegrown program or are you looking at the traditional hotbeds for players?
Which programs are you looking at playing in the first years of Mercer Lacrosse, are you guys going to play in some other conference?
Where can I purchase a Mercer Lacrosse T-Shirt, anyone on this forum knows im a sucker for a good T.
Oh, and are you thinking about playing a, some or the majority of your home games in Atlanta to gain visibilty, recruiting, boost attendence, etc...

An besides, I think that Allatoona(sp?) can be very good if the team becomesdedicated, they already have some great coaches.
An to the question about the SoCo, I'm gunna be playin on the Brothers of War, combo MacIntosh/Starr's Mill team, an maybe a few others.
