In Missouri, we currently use NCAA rules for games. We're considering switching to NFHS rules this coming season.

Do any of you have any thoughts on the advantages of going one way or the other?

Personally, I prefer the NCAA rules as some of the Federation rules (1 minute non-releaseable for a mouthpiece violation) seem more geared towards the youth game instead of the high school game.

No, it's not. And that's not what I said. However, I think a technical foul is severe enough penalty.

We have refs in Missouri who will make the call from across the field if they think a player doesn't have his mouthpiece all the way in his mouth. And just to be clear, I'm not talking about a mouthpiece hanging beneath the facemask - I'm talking about the kid not having it far enough in his mouth.

Besides saving teeth, they're supposed to help prevent concussions.

Anytime we do anything on the field that may have contact all kids must have their mouth guards in or they don't practice. No exception. Stress it early and often so it isn't an issue when it comes to the game.

well you could keep the NCAA rules, with the exception of the head rules, because i think most of the NCAA rules make the game better
