riight. yeah of course.that probably one of the most inaccurate quotes ive ever heard. its basically saying "yeah as long as you look good on the field you'll play good. dont worry about practicing." doesnt matter how good you look, if you dont practice your gonna be a terrible player and embarrass yourself.
and im done arguing about flow. obviously not gettin through to the cool kids of the forums. believe what you want and have fun.

I believe your avatar is your gear, which you take great pride in. I would venture so far as to say you think you look good in your gear, no? It's comfortable to you? You don't think you look awkward or unskilled? If it is good-looking and comfortable, you're going to play better, because you won't be worrying about what your gear looks like.
Oh it is far from what you are saying, because I never included anything about practice. I'm in here talking about gear and you're all up talking about practice? Please.
And thank you for contradicting yourself in your final statement.

Everyone has their own flow. Play in whatever makes you feel better about your own abilities and play hard. If you do that your golden.
Edit: And yes I have changed my view on flow within the past couple of days. Think about it fellas when you feel confident with yourself everything comes much easier.

The thing I don't get is why people think that EVERY person with flow combs, conditions, and primps their hair and doesn't play hard. Most people with flow are legit lacrosse players and hit the wall just as much as people who don't have flow. No one just stands there and combs their hair the entire practice, that would be foolish.

i have absolutely no problem with people who enjoy their flow. i mean what ever floats your boat right? but when you start attacking people on the internet based on a picture of how they look its just sad. i mean you've never seen him play yet you criticize his playing ability based on a picture of how he looks? so what if he has older gloves not everyone can shell out 200 bucks ever time something new comes out.

I wouldn't say people are being "attacked" just criticism that comes along when you post almost anything on the internet. Most of the people on the 90% of lax facebook group have flow and are just showing people what they got. what's wrong with that?

no im not saying posting the pictures im talking about the comments that people leave. i mean some people on the flow group will say you suck at lacrosse and should go kill yourself BECAUSE your hair is not long enough, etc etc. sure i mean if you post a picture on a website be prepared to get criticized but to tell someone to go kill themselves because of hairlength is a little extreme right?

i could care less what gear i wear. i didnt always have the equipment i have now, even back when i was rockin the old buckets i didnt care. why would i worry about what i look like on the field? all that matters to me when im on the field is how im playing, whether or not im doing all i can to put the ball in the back of the net and win a game for us. sure i got all this stuff now, but i worked for it and payed for it with my own money and i didnt get a pro7 for looks i bought that for myself after i got a concussion.
and in what way did i contradict myself?

I happen to agree with Run's statement, if I look good, then I feel good, and then I play good. I can tell you right now that if you give me a bucket helmet, huge warrior arm pads, and any shoulder pad that is not hacked to death I will not play as well as I would if I had my pro 7, shoguns, and liners. Its purely image, and I understand that. However, as much as I want to think I don't care what others think, I absolutely do.

eastattack you have to chill man. What DMC is talking about (or at least what I think he is talking about) is a confidence issue. Players who worry about how they look on the field will lack the confidence to do some things because they are busy worrying about how they look. Players with "flow" aren't busy worrying about how they look and therefore will have less to worry about.
Of course, this all is focused around the self concious person on the field.
I myself am the epitome of anti-flow with my CLH2 and bulky shoulder pads. I have this terrible equipment because I have not been playing very long.
Enjoy my flowchart of my opinion of the origins of Flow:

then yes i did contradict myself. and you should care less about how you look if it bothers you that much. yes you do feel a little better when you look better but looks shouldnt matter to you that much. what you should be focusing on is your game not your looks.

I haven't looked through this whole thread yet, but I was wondering this.
To the guys that already have flow, did you grow your hair out because of the fact you wanted flow or just because you liked having long hair in the first place?
And to the guys that did not have flow before, have any of you grown your hair out just because you wanted the flow for lacrosse?
As for me, I've had my hair kinda long since 6th grade, I am now in 10th. But I did not grow my hair out for lacrosse, I did it because I like my hair longer than shorter. I have a thing about my forehead, which I don't like so I cover it up with my longer hair.
Just wondering your guys' thoughts about it.

And you both are missing Stin's point. It's on thing to argue to separate sides of the discussion, Stin is trying to keep things from escalating beyond the topic and becoming personal with what he's seeing in the posting, it's why his name has that fancy ketchup red color to it...
mmm...fancy ketchup

I grew my hair out in 4th grade, before I even started Lax. I grew my hair out because I didn't like my barber, and when my dad started complaining about it I kept it because he didn't like it... I don't even remember what I looked like with short hair.

personally, i cant grow long hair what so ever, but thats just family genes
but i dont care if i have it, the fact of the matter is, you gotta play good, then you can act like a total clown and do whatever..
in other words, do whats better for yourself and team

im definatly in the SKILL-NO FLOW catagory. shaved hair, cpro.lol, beginner gait chest protector, beginner gait rib pads (never wear them), and some MAD husln for sticks, have you ever goten a proton power and a platinum alloy for $10 - didnt think so lol
but i do have harrow armpads (on sale), ipro gloves, and brand new under armour cleats for $20. and ive played 15 seasons. one of which was for the possums team (if you live in florida you know) when i was 12, so i have the skills, just not the gear and i cant help but smile everytime i burn some joker with the best gear you can buy
its all about hustling, thats cool

Long hair out the back of helmets: tacky, gaudy, show off-ish, screams 'look-at-me', etc. It's antithetical to the concept of 'team'. Either the whole team does it as part of the uniform or team conformity, or they don't. A player's ability is the only thing in a team game that should speak to his individuality.

Honestly, I did not realize the popularity of the flow fad until I started going on the lacrosse forums. Prior to going on this website, I just thought that it added to style along with other things such as mid calves...
